iPad study

Humans are unique in their ability to cooperate: by working together we can accomplish things we otherwise couldn’t. Even small children are helpful and like doing tasks together with others. In order to study how children choose partners for cooperative interactions, we developed an iPad game as a research tool, which you and your children can try out at this station. An important aspect of cooperative competence is the question: how do people recognize with whom they should work together? The ideal partner is fair, helpful, and doesn’t cheat or is only interested in their own advantage. On the other hand, it is also important to collaborate with someone who is skilled and does his task well. In our research game, you can observe how other characters behave, and from these observations draw conclusions about how they might act in a team. This is important because afterwards, you can also play the game - not alone, but together with another character. Find the best partners and learn more about cooperation and human social cognition.
