For the Lange Nacht der Forschung at the Anton Bruckner Universität Linz, No Here, a work premiered at the Ultraschall Festival (Berlin) in January 2026 by ensemble mosaik, is presented in a version in which the composer-researcher assumes the live role of conductor. The original premiere recording is played back as visitors engage with the work’s obbligato programme booklet, revised for this occasion after the first performance. No Here adapts the logic of escape rooms to the classical concert format. The recorded voice of the ensemble’s pianist acts as a game master, guiding the audience through a structure of “controlled linearity” that interweaves sound and reading. Midway through the performance, the booklet splits into two possible paths. The virtual itinerary and the simplified action protocol, adapted to the printed medium, recall card-based escape rooms, where progression unfolds through attention and imagination rather than physical movement.
