In 2015, the United Nations established ambitious goals for a peaceful, fair, and sustainable world by 2030. Among these goals, Sustainable Development Goal 5 is a commitment to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. This goal aims to eliminate discrimination, violence, and harmful practices against women and girls, while ensuring their full participation and equal opportunities in leadership across all areas of society. However, the data presents a complex and troubling picture: not only are we far off track in achieving gender equality, but current data is insufficient to reflect important nuances of women's experiences. What does data reveal about the state of gender equality? And equally important, what stories remain untold? Join our session on gender equality's latest data insights. Hear from experts in gender studies, policy, and data analysis, and delve into data's depths and the stories behind it. This session is for anyone interested in data, gender equality, and global concerns, promising to deepen understanding and stimulate discussion on this crucial issue.
